Christmas - the birth of that Perfect Sacrifice

Hi friends to this blog. I wish you have a relaxing and enjoyable time this Christmas.

If you like, this is also an opportune time to reflect on the meaning of Christmas that is personal to you. For me, this Christmas reminds me of the birth of Jesus, the birth of that Perfect Sacrifice, the Lamb of God who took away the sin of the world.

When God told Abraham to offer his only beloved son Isaac as a burnt sacrifice to Him, we know that later, God provided a ram (male sheep) instead (Genesis 22: 1-14).

Before the new covenant, all who wanted to have their sins forgiven had to sacrifice an unblemished animal as a burnt offering to God. From the New Covenant perspective, the sacrificial animal is a shadow of the good things that are coming-not the realities themselves (Heb. 10:1,4).

The sacrificial ram for Abraham pointed to God’s provision of Jesus, the perfect sacrifice as the reality. In the gospel of John, John prophetically proclaimed Jesus as the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29).

Rejoice.
